Overview:

Designed by Geoffrey Cornish in 1963, Trull Brook will test even the best of players with the unconventional layout. Fun fact: the course has been in the Trull family for over 200 years and was once Home of the Tewksbury Redmen high school golf team, Cam and I have played here since our early days in the sport, and definitely have mixed emotions about the course.

Value:

Flexible on your tee time? You're going to score a good deal here. Saturday morning is your only option? Pay up bucko.

18 holes walking Monday-Thursday will only run you $48 which is very fair. However, Saturday 18 with a cart jumps up to $97. Trust me, you probably want a cart at this course, there's a few long rides between holes.

Condition:

Aside from the possibly the worst opening hole in the world, we like the unconventional layout with some forced layups, and gettable downhill par 5's. They PACK this course from first light in the summer, so it can definitely take a beating.

Atmosphere:

Mixed emotions here - I bought 4 transfusions for under $25 from the beverage cart. However, this place will raid your bag like the FBI if you bring your own drinks onto the course. I get it, but this can definitely deter people from coming back. On the other hand, if the course has fair prices on food/drink, support your local business. Any place serving Dom's steaktips in the kitchen is doing something right, that got me to stick around for a few after the round.

I can't end this blog without giving a shout out to Allen Santos, the lead teaching professional and heart and soul of Trull Brook on staff since 1988. A local legend.
