Overview:
Holly Ridge is a Par 54, family friendly course nestled in Sandwich, MA. Joe & Jennifer O'Connor are owners/operators for the last 10 years that work their tails off to ensure all players enjoy their experience at HR. An executive course that is great for beginners, but also a great place to work on your short game. One of the first courses I ever played as a junior golfer, I always look forward to returning.
Condition:
Holly Ridge Golf Club is a Golf Digest Best Places to Play Golf Course and Golf Range Association of America named them as one of the Top Short Courses in America. Many will see an executive course and scroll to the next track, but don't overlook Holly Ridge for the right occasion. The courses is extremely well maintained and offers challenging tee shots that really force you to dial in the long irons. 10 of the 18 holes are over 160 yards from the blue tees. On a longer course, these shots can make or break your round.
Value:
18 holes walking runs you $48 ($64 to ride if you absolutely must). Grab your sunday bag, take the woods out of the bag and enjoy the 3,000 yard walk. This is again a great way for players just learning the game to be on the course but not break the bank.
Atmosphere:
Holly Ridge Golf Club features a casual restaurant and a fully-stocked bar with seating for up to 75 people. The food gets the job done and is a no-frills comfortable spot. My grandfather played The Ridge Club every Sunday afternoon for many years... him and his buddy would always take their post round to Holly Ridge to cap off the weekend... that speaks volumes to the character of this establishment.
