Overview:

A true links course with ocean views? We couldn't wait to check this place out. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic, Highland Links in Truro is an experience you don't want to miss on your Cape Cod vacation. 5,300 yards from the Men's tees, this Par 70 (9 holes looped twice) is a historic landmark on the outer Cape, and you feel it as soon as you pull up to the clubhouse.

Conditions:

It's not your most manicured course, and that's for reason... it is one of the only true links style courses in MA, and one of the first in the nation. From the first tee, it looks gettable but will quickly humble you as you dig through the fescue for your drive. I can't tell you how many times I thought my tee shot was in good shape and I had to pick through Top Flights before dropping one out of my pocket.

The 6th hole is the favorite. Par 5, 464 yards of pure beauty. On the tee shot, take a quick moment to look down below to Cape Cod's National Seashore2 50 yards below the dunes and get your picture for Dad's Facebook. A slight dogleg left that rewards a big hitter, still requires precision of a 2nd shot to get there in two with a blind shot over the hill for your 200+ yard approach.

Value:

2025 prices ran us $68 to walk 18 ($88 to ride). You're undoubtably paying for the experience and the view, but I'll take any greens fee under $100 on the Cape for Ocean views and historic experience.

Atmosphere:

From the rest of this blog, I'm sure you can infer the style and feel of Highland Links. The Clubhouse fits the mold with a Cape style house that serves up fairly priced merch and a snack shack with burgers, dogs, and a half decent steak and cheese. Couple beers on the back deck overlooking the par 3, 9th green is a great way to end your round. Bring a couple foursomes, put together a few matches and have yourself a day.
