Ah, Chelmsford Country Club (CCC), where it all began 20+ years ago. Cam and Tom have extremely found memories of CCC from getting dropped off by our parents for a full day's play, to rolling up for high school practice with a Moe's Burrito in one hand, and my driver in the other. It simply didn't get better than that.
CCC is a 9-hole, par 33 that has seen major transformation since our days as 8 year olds eating snickers bars till we were picked up by Mom & Dad. The conditions were never something to write home about, but we were pleasantly surprised to see the improvements over the last few years to put CCC back on the map.
The layout is a bit quirky, but if you think you're going to come out and break 30 on 9 holes just because it is short, think again. Many of the greens can be diabolical, and if you don't know where to land your tee shot on a few holes, you'll quickly be in trouble or even Out of Bounds.
A standout hole is the Par 4, 8th. A hard dog leg right that requires a 200-230 yard tee shot to wrap around the corner, only to be met with a blind 140-150 yard approach over the hill, and down to a sloped green. We swear at one point this was a Par 5, and rightfully so because 4 is an incredible score here.
It's only $20-$30 to play 9 holes, and you really don't need a cart. You'll see all walks of life on this course, from a bunch of buddies drinking beers, father/son bonding time, to elders who play it 8 days a week.
The staff is incredible and always providing a helping hand. Not necessarily the best spot to post game but they've got a stocked bar ready to go.
Come for a quick 9 that won't blow your socks off, and enjoy the walk.
