Conveniently located off 495 in Westford, this is the only public course in Westford (aside from Kimballs pitch & putt). Cam and Tom grew up hitting the range & practice area here but rarely paid the greens fees for the full round.

The course was created on over 210 acres of serene rolling hills, tall pine, beautiful ponds and the babbling Butter Brook which flows directly down the middle of the property.

Condition:

This Mark Mungeam design is a par 72 layout stretching from 5,100 yards to over 6,800 yards with four sets of tees. The front 9 offers a nice variety of holes with an opening par 5, short par 4, and newly renovated par 3 to start. I’ve always found myself regretting driver off the tee on many shots because it’s simply not needed if you’re a longer hitter. The back 9 was added years after the front and is a completely different feel. Don’t be afraid to grip it and rip it on this side.

We played an spring round which might have contributed to the early season conditions including deathly slow greens.

Value:

Tiered pricing depending on time of play - gets expensive during the morning weekend hours up to $140 but options to get a later twilight walking round under $100. Butter Brook likely won’t be your every weekend track, but a nice treat or perfect for sneaking out for a twilight round in the summer.

Atmosphere:

Something we’ve always felt Butter Brook is lacking. If they set up a great food situation and reliable beverage cart service, it could truly put this course at the top of a lot of lists. Very small patio behind the clubhouse but I’m a bigger fan of the 99 down the street for some popcorn and bud select on draft.
